The Foundation accepts proposals, by invitation only, from organizations it has not previously funded. Organizations which have been funded within the last three years may send a proposal by September 1st for consideration at our annual meeting in the Fall. The Foundation has been in existence since 1945. It is a family foundation whose original
assets were bequeathed by Elizabeth C. Quinlan. She was a founder and the chief
executive of the Young Quinlan Company, a luxury women’s specialty store located at
9th and Nicollet in Minneapolis. The assets of the foundation were increased in 2004
with a bequest from Mary Elizabeth Lahiff, Ms. Quinlan’s niece. The current trustees of
the foundation are Ms. Quinlan’s great nieces and nephew.
